Dr. Abshir Yusuf Ibrahim is a respected physician, educator, and healthcare leader with extensive experience in clinical practice, medical education, and professional development. He currently serves as the Head of Training & Professional Development at Alami Specialist Hospital, where he leads initiatives focused on strengthening clinical competencies, advancing workforce development, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence across the institution.

Dr. Abshir earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and has further enhanced his expertise through a Postgraduate Certificate in Pediatric Nutrition (PGPN) from Boston University School of Medicine. He is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Pediatrics, reflecting his continued commitment to advancing his knowledge and contributing to the improvement of child healthcare services.

With a strong background in pediatric medicine, Dr. Abshir has served within the Pediatric Department at Benadir Hospital, one of Somalia’s largest and most prominent referral hospitals. Through his clinical practice, he has gained valuable experience in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of a wide range of pediatric conditions while maintaining a strong focus on child health, nutrition, and evidence-based medical care.

In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Abshir is an active lecturer at Darul Hikma University, where he plays an important role in educating and mentoring future healthcare professionals. His passion for teaching and capacity building has enabled him to contribute significantly to the development of medical students and young practitioners, helping prepare the next generation of healthcare leaders.

Dr. Abshir has also held key leadership positions within Alami Specialist Hospital, previously serving as Medical Director.
