Dr. Marian Mohamud Abdullahi

Dr. Maria Mohamud Abdullahi is a highly skilled and dedicated Specialist Obstetrician & Gynecologist with over fifteen years of extensive experience in women’s health, maternal care, and reproductive medicine. She currently serves in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Alami Specialist Hospital, where she provides comprehensive, patient-centered care and contributes to the delivery of high-quality maternal and gynecological services.

Dr. Maria earned her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Jazeera University, Mogadishu, and later obtained a Master’s Degree in Obstetrics and Gynecology from Benadir University. Her strong clinical foundation is further enhanced by a Diploma in Registered Nursing and Midwifery, giving her a unique and comprehensive understanding of women’s healthcare from both nursing and medical perspectives.

Her professional journey reflects a remarkable progression through various levels of healthcare practice. Beginning her career as a trainee midwife, she advanced through roles as a Midwife, Clinical Supervisor, Assistant Physician, and ultimately Specialist Obstetrician & Gynecologist. This diverse experience has equipped her with exceptional clinical expertise, leadership skills, and a deep appreciation for compassionate, patient-focused care.

Throughout her career, Dr. Marian has worked with several leading healthcare institutions in Somalia, including Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Training and Research Hospital (Digfeer), Taran Androcare Hospital, Horseed Hospital, Ibnu Abukar Hospital, and Benadir Maternity and Children’s Hospital. Prior to joining Alami Specialist Hospital, she served as a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist at B-Well Clinic & Wellness.

Dr. Marian specializes in antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care, management of high-risk pregnancies, family planning, infertility assessment and treatment, gynecological consultations, and women’s reproductive health. She is highly experienced in performing Cesarean sections and major gynecological surgeries, including hysterectomy, myomectomy, laparotomy, and dilation and curettage (D&C). Her expertise also extends to the management of complex obstetric emergencies, ultrasound diagnostics, fetal monitoring, and neonatal resuscitation.

In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Marian has collaborated with internationally recognized humanitarian and healthcare organizations, including Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF-Holland), International Medical Corps (IMC), Mercy-USA for Aid and Development, and UNICEF. Through these roles, she has supported maternal and reproductive health programs, emergency obstetric care services, clinical supervision initiatives, and community health interventions aimed at improving outcomes for women and children.

Committed to continuous professional development, Dr. Marian has completed specialized training in Obstetric and Gynecological Ultrasound, Basic Emergency Obstetric and Neonatal Care (BEmONC), Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Response, and Aesthetic Gynecology. Her dedication to clinical excellence, patient safety, and women’s health advocacy continues to make a meaningful impact on the lives of patients and families she serves.
